Easter dinner for wounded warriors
Many holidays are difficult for wounded service members, and Easter is no exception. Without family close by, the loneliness that comes with painful injuries and emotional scarring worsens. At Heartbeat, we do our best to be like family.
Our volunteers and the donations to buy food help us make Easter joyful for nearly 100 warriors. Volunteers cook a delicious Easter dinner in the Warrior Transition Battalion’s (WTB) kitchens at Fort Lewis. The WTB military commands graciously support Heartbeat’s efforts to make this event happen.

Easter dinner is more than a meal to our warriors
Six injured warriors were flown to Madigan Army Medical Center for medical care during a recent Easter dinner. With the help of the company first sergeant (1SG) — the company commander’s senior enlisted adviser — Heartbeat put together special plates for the warriors.
Wounded service members welcome Heartbeat’s Easter dinner. It’s not only because our Baker’s Angels group makes delicious, homemade baked goods. The event lets our wounded heroes know how much we appreciate their sacrifices. It lets them know there are people who care.
If you would like more information about this special event, please contact the Heartbeat office.
